We are really excited to see new and returning Mentors and TAs at the Wolfram High School Summer Research Program (formerly Wolfram High School Summer Camp).

Mentoring at WSRP is a genuinely fulfilling experience. While it requires a significant commitment, it is very rewarding to help your students learn and grow in their skills and aptitudes.

WSRP this year will be based at Bentley University near Boston, running from June 28-July 15. Staff will arrive on the 26th.

We will also be running a bootcamp for students who are less confident in WL, which will be June 25-28. Workshop staff will arrive on the 24th.

Some Mentors and TAs in previous years were asked what their favorite part of WSRP was, and they said:

"Teaching students how to do interesting things in WL. This has long been one of my favorite things, so it was nice to have a big chunk of dedicated time to do it in an official capacity. Plus, it's always nice to work directly with motivated students who are genuinely interested to learn new things and are excited about the work they're doing."

"Being able to work on a host of different types of projects often in one hour! The range of the project topics at camp is always super engaging."

"I loved bonding with the students and helping make mentor groups fun and well-rounded."

WSRP Roles

There are multiple roles available at WSRP23. This application is for being a Mentor at camp. If you are a high school student who has attended WSRP in the past and is interested in a TA role, please let me know.

  • Mentors: Mentors form the main part of our academic team. They deliver at least one class on their topic of interest, and lead a team of 3-5 students through their project in small group project time. Mentors are responsible for each of their student's academic output. Senior mentors must be 21, and Junior mentors must be 19 or 20. There is no upper age limit to being a mentor, and we encourage people of all stages of life to join our team.
  • TAs: TAs are vital for running the camp. While the mentors work with their small group of students, TAs work with anyone who is struggling or needs some help. TAs also help us to organize social and downtime activities, filling an active role in making sure that our students are engaged, active, and having a positive camp experience. TAs must be aged over 16, and under 21.
  • Pre-Session Mentors: In the week before camp, we will also be running a three-day bootcamp for any student who is not confident in their WL skills. TAs and Mentors are welcome to sign up to be a mentor for this program, and it will be compensated accordingly. We anticipate having 10-15 students at this pre-session, and will need approximately 5 mentors

We cannot wait to read your applications!
