Responsible for planning, co-ordinating and delivering a broad range of initiatives to support the delivery of Wolfram’s strategic agenda. This role requires the ability to assimilate a wide range of messy information into a clear understanding of required outcomes and actions.

You must be proactive, able to think clearly through complex problems, and have strong presentation and communication skills including the ability to interface with a wide diversity of teams from R&D to sales and marketing.

This is a fast-paced, deadline-driven team environment and requires ability and enthusiasm for clear-headed understanding of big picture strategy, interdepartmental projects and new technologies while working at a detailed project level to contribute to their execution

A technical background is preferred but not required. However a technical mind set, aptitude for understanding what would be important to Wolfram technology and services customers for analysing data and designing solutions.

Reports to: Director of Strategic Project Delivery


Development of Strategy

  • Active involvement in the brainstorming and refinement of top level strategic plans. This includes project managing meetings where the creation of objectives and tactics within strategic bundles and key initiatives takes place
  • Turning agreed strategies into the best configuration of projects with agreement of managers who will execute them.
  • Improving and maintaining the project management system (based around JIRA) for both Strategic Initiatives and workflows to their execution
  • Identifying, agreeing and implementing improvements to the process for plan creation and execution, including the UX of the company’s interaction with strategic plans

Project Planning

  • Identifying and managing conflicts and commonality between different plans, functions, activities
  • Supporting and advising on the prioritisation and sequencing of activities
  • Being a key source of knowledge on plan contents for questions or issues that arise
  • Creating and maintaining project management tickets with the appropriate deadlines, watchers, and details needed to execute projects. Running problem project review meetings with management.
  • Proactively managing the execution of project plans for multiple projects- Identify, convey, and track project milestones

Project Administration

  • Organising optimal project management and working meetings, making sure they happen including agendas, notes, recording decisions, next steps and actions items
  • Actioning the results from project meetings and activities reporting up as required
  • Ensuring project management and reporting systems JIRA, SI webpage etc are up-to-date and accurate.
  • Using JIRA to help facilitate the prioritization and progress of Strategic Initiatives, across the business.

Key skills

  • Incisive thinking, with good business sense about priorities.
  • Experience of programme/project management and project delivery in a software or other high-tech company.
  • Highly organised – able to prioritise workload (mix of large and smaller tasks), complete multiple tasks to deadlines and work under pressure
  • Self-motivated and a pro-active approach to all tasks. High degree of initiative.
  • Perceptive, with the ability to apply judgement, common sense and find practical solutions
  • Strong planning, interpersonal and analytical skills, able to communicate well at all levels both externally and internally. Ability to adapt style of communication accordingly.
  • Ability to interact with cross-functional teams (for example, user experience, design, web, technical content, quality assurance, support, and product development teams)
  • A good level of computational literacy and attention to detail will be required

Salary: Starting from £35,000 - salary negotiable
