Job title: Quantum Computation Technical Consultant

Wolfram, creator of Mathematica, Wolfram|Alpha and Wolfram Language, is seeking a passionate and skilled Quantum Computing Technical Consultant to join the Wolfram Quantum team. You will be responsible for identifying key quantum algorithms that promote the use of Wolfram Language among quantum researchers. You'll leverage the Wolfram Quantum Framework to implement these algorithms, contributing to the expansion of Wolfram Language's adoption within the quantum technology sector, which includes academic researchers, entrepreneurs, startups and established organizations focusing on quantum computation.

As a Quantum Computation Technical Consultant, you will be at the forefront of integrating classical computational methods with quantum algorithms, thus playing a crucial role in securing our position as a leading computational tool within the quantum research community.

Responsibilities

  • Researching and identifying significant quantum algorithms that can benefit from the unique capabilities offered by Wolfram Language and the Wolfram Quantum Framework
  • Developing and implementing these quantum algorithms in Wolfram Language, making them accessible and functional for the broader quantum research community
  • Collaborating with academic and industrial partners to understand their computational needs and tailoring quantum algorithm solutions that assist in their research and development efforts
  • Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of the quantum computing landscape, including emerging techniques, challenges and trends
  • Contributing to the development and improvement of the Wolfram Quantum Framework by providing feedback and insights from a user's perspective
  • Designing and conducting workshops, training sessions and presentations to evangelize Wolfram Language use in quantum computing applications
  • Collaborating with Wolfram's product development teams to inform the roadmap for quantum computation features and capabilities

Qualifications

  • Proficiency in English with excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • A master's or PhD degree in quantum computing, physics, computer science or a related field with a significant quantum computation component
  • Strong background in quantum mechanics and quantum computing principles, including familiarity with quantum algorithms such as Shor's algorithm, Grover's algorithm, the quantum Fourier transform, etc.
  • Proven experience with quantum programming, preferably using Wolfram Language and its quantum framework or other quantum computing frameworks (e.g. Qiskit, Cirq, or Q#)
  • Programming proficiency in Wolfram Language or a willingness to rapidly develop expertise in it
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex quantum concepts into understandable terms for a non-specialist audience
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience in contributing to or managing open-source projects, particularly those related to quantum computing
  • Prior experience in technical consulting or technical team collaboration with strong customer-facing communication
  • Active participant in the quantum computing community through research, publications or conference presentations
